Landslide coalition Victory by poll Presicts

A new poll, taken in the week before the release yesterday of the climate plan, the government losing an election in a landslide, and opposition leader Tony Abbott as preferred prime minister.

The latest Essential shows that the first preferences of the Coalition leading Labor 50 percent to 30 percent after preferences and the opposition leading by a massive 57 to 43

Essential interviewing Andrew Bunn says that if an election were held today would be "getting on the part of New South Wales State election," and it was a bloodbath for the Labour government.

Mr. Abbott introduced Prime Minister Julia Gillard with 39 to 37 percent - a narrow lead, but a year ago, Deborah Gillard 53 percent to 26 percent.

"It's the first time we have [significant] had him front and approval ratings for MS Gillard is rapidly declining in the last few months," said Bunn told ABC News Online.

"The great movement began in both vote intention and approval of the message in February in the prices of coal. The two parties were neck and neck, preferably in February and is now 57-43."

Ms Gillard further slid into outright approval, only 29 percent of people approving of the work they do as prime minister, and 62 percent disapproving.

But Mr Abbott approval rating is not positive territory - or 39 percent of those polled approve the work he does as an opposition leader and 49 percent disapprove.
